Welcome!

Don't worry about being fancy here- take off your shoes and grab yourself a mug of hot chocolate. Or tea. I have no hot drink prejudices.

BEDA Day 4: The Seasons wohoo!

So something I find sort of interesting is how everyone has a different favourite season. Everyone. People don't unanimously say that they all like Summer like I was expecting- because of the Sun and stuff. As it turns out everyone has a different favourite. Unless you live somewhere faraway and you only have two seasons. I didn't carry out my experiment with you and for that I am sorry.

In fact this was only taken with English people. Again, sorry!

Let's get this thing started.
How clever is this picture? I can't get over it. I just keep looking at it.

Spring

The good: The weather starts to get good again and the trees are blossoming. All the baby lambs and cows are starting to roam around. I live next door to a farm and the baby cows are so cute. I imagine them as Bambi, but you know, cows instead of deers. People also like the idea that summer is just around the corner and there is something to look forward to. Also you can start wearing bright clothes and people don't look at you like you're a fire hazard. In England this is when all the shows re-new their seasons as well.

The bad: Often it's quite wet and drizzly. I know this contradicts what I literally just said, but look give me a break. Also Spring is a major revision period for anyone my age and to university area, and since all my last few blog posts have been complaining about revision you know how I feel about this one.

Summer

The good: These are obvious. Sun, ice cream, shorts, T-shirts, dresses which aren't black, skirts, going on bike rides with your friends, house parties, the holidays, going on holiday with family, taking your dogs on long walks, swimming, barbecues, bikinis, tennis and rounders, summer shoes.

The bad: Exams are looming. Also the weather can be a major let down sometimes. Reading books which you know have no real meaning and are rubbish.

Autumn

The good: The leaves start to change colour, seeing your friends again, no exams, learning things you don't actually know about yet, the weather is pretty good, the return of hockey, holidays in big cities like Paris, Quirky umbrellas.

The bad: The return of school, the nights starting to get darker, the return of winter clothes.

Winter

The good: Christmas, Christmas, Christmas, Birthday, Hot chocolate, Tea, Big slippers, Big socks, Matching hats and gloves, Snow, Cute wellies, Buying gifts, Getting gifts, Hearty meals, Jeans, Reading books that are actually meaningful. (I'm looking at The Fault in Our Stars here.)

The bad: Let's be honest. Winter begins fun, but it gets old pretty quickly. Dark nights, rain, how long it is, constantly being tired and somehow how Winter just manages to bring you down and you feel like its dark cloud will never go away.

I used to love Winter, and to some extent still love it because of all it's nostalgic memories. But really, I'm gonna be honest, Summer will be my favourite for now until the end of time. Interestingly though the other people I asked really like Spring, which was an outcome I wasn't really expecting.
So my list goes like this:
1) Summer
2) Spring
3) Autumn
4) Winter

How does your list go? Which season is your favourite and why? Which is your least favourite and why? Let me know!

Sorry that my blog is so dull. Revision has in fact sizzled my mind. So unless you want to talk about Hydrocarbons, I'd put up with the meaningless blog posts about seasons and weather.

Love, Izzy xxxxx

  1. My favourite is Autumn - multicoloured leaves, my birthday, Halloween, darker nights etc :)

    1. Oh wow- you like the darker nights? That's not the same as me!

  2. I always anticipate the next season, and then once it comes and the novelty has worn off, I hate it. And then I welcome the next season. Rinse and repeat.

  3. Spring is my absolute favourite, so I guess my list is:
    1. Spring
    2. Summer
    3. Winter
    4. Autumn
But ah, it's so hard to decide.

    1. I always change. At the beginning of Winter I love it like crazy and by the end I hate it. Spring is kinda grey at the moment in England which is annoying me. If it doesn't get better soon it might get switched with Winter.

  4. Ok, I'm sure this post is old, but I'm working on my own seasons post and saw the tree image that brought me here.

I have always loved autumn, thought I'm finding I have plenty to love about the other seasons too. I have to put autumn first... I love the cooler air, fuzzy sweaters, fall foods and activities (pumpkins, apples, halloween etc) and of course the leaves!! After that I can't really decide...
